Canada Prepares for White Squirrel Festival
White squirrel worship is not unique to the United States. Albino squirrel meccas in Marionville, MO, Olney, IL, and Kenton, TN, must now deal with the fanatics of South Huron, Ontario. The first yearly White Squirrel Festival will be held at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter, Ontario, Canada on Saturday September 23, 2000. The event is held in conjunction with the Exeter Agricultural Society Fall Fair, now in its 146th year.
Festival officials promise all the mirth one expects from a white squirrel festival. "Have your picture taken with Andy DeBoer, South Huron's White Squirrel Squire. You can also have your picture taken with 'WILLIS,' the White Wonder Mascot. [07/09/2000]
