Tommy the World's Largest Crab
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Giant Crab Gourmet Seafood Buffet would like people to come for its 170-item serve-yourself smorgasbord. But it concedes in its name that most people will know it for its Giant Crab.
"Tommy" is 25 feet tall, 35 feet wide, and weighs 4.5 tons. He was named for the restaurant's owner. With cartoon eyes, dimpled cheeks, and a saucy sailor's cap, he appears to be saluting customers as they enter. "Hope you enjoy tearing off my family's legs!"
Tommy is identified as the World's Largest by a tastefully small sign on the awning beneath his chin. He's such an overwhelming presence that you may not even notice that the restaurant is flanked by a 50-foot-tall fake lighthouse on one side and a fully rigged life-size fake ship on the other.
