30-Foot-Tall Bigfoot Sign
Idabel, Oklahoma
Phil Silva ran a country and western bar on this spot for 30 years. Then he closed it and built a gas station, which he wanted to set apart from any other. So he named it Gasquatch and filled its minimart with branded merchandise, including dolls, t-shirts, sweats, mugs, caps, stickers, frisbees, and furry Bigfoot slippers. The cafe sells Bigfoot Hot Dogs and fried "Squatch Fingers." After two years of work, it opened in November 2020.
Bigfoot is not normally associated with Oklahoma, so to grab the attention of possibly confused motorists, Silva erected a 30-foot-tall sign out front, showing a Bigfoot holding a gas pump nozzle. The creature's eyes light up at night. They can be seen from a mile away.
