Wheel Art. L.J. Maasdam's Wheel Art

L.J. Maasdam's Wheel sculpture was a nice place to stop. Don't forget to bring a lunch. The picnic table's there, held up by what else -- wheels. The plaque at the base reads simply "Constructed by L.J. Maasdam Age 90 Years Old 1994" [Steve, 10/25/2010]

It's a little eerie having this bizarre and alien looking metal sculpture in the middle of a bunch of corn fields. There's a matching wheel fence and picnic table next to it too. [Mary Norvell, 08/17/2010]

L.J. Maasdam's Wheel Art

Awesome! It's a quick trip off I-80, in a secluded area next to a cornfield. It's a pretty huge structure, over 200 large wagon wheels welded together. There's very little info at the site. [Lindsdog, 07/22/2010]

[RA: 90-year old Maasdam created the Wheel Tower in 1995, inspired by something he saw in Wisconsin. We recall seeing something like it outside the Don Q Inn, Dodgeville, WI.]
