Among the garish seaside draws in Ocean City is a five-story-high ice mountain at a mini-golf center near the southern end of Baltimore Ave. On a hot summer day, I turned a corner and WHOOSH! felt a chill just looking at it. Not real ice, of course, the fiberglass-or-whatever summit is pure white, and cool steam rises from it just like on TV. Golfers ascend via some stairs, and get to spend a moment as Arnold Palmer atop Mt. Everest. The whole setup has to be temporary, though, as it seemed to blot out entirely any view from a number of rooms of the adjoining hotel.
