Fire Breathing Steel Dragon
The dragon is totally worth the stop, especially at night!
[Eric, 08/12/2011]So worth the extra 2 minutes! Even my critic husband was impressed! And the liquor store staff was soooo friendly! Would be better at night, and the liquor store is open late almost every night.

It is right off the interstate, like 2 minutes. It is all it is cracked up to be. Ya go to the liquor store, get a token for a buck, pop it in and voila! Dragon breathes fire. There are a lot of oddball attractions and this is my favorite!
They say that at night it is the real treat. Ronnie James Dio had a fire breathing dragon on stage in the mid 80's...he would be proud...R.I.P Ronnie.
The guy at the liquor store informed us of the old Vandalia State House, which is a winner to go see (1st state capitol in Illinois...home to some Lincoln/Douglass epic debates). If not for the dragon I would never would have seen the old capitol!
[Paul Druhan, 10/29/2010]Fire Breathing Dragon
Fire breathing dragon -- we saw this gem right at sunset. It's a really quick stop off of the interstate.
[Kim Wolfford, 09/03/2010]Fire-Breathing Dragon
The dragon still stands, as proud and ferociously fire-breathing as ever. Tokens are $1 and are sold at the liquor store across the street. There's also a Geocache hidden here!
