World's Largest Pistachio Sculpture Giant pistachio nut, 30 ft. high, on Hwy 54 between Alamogordo and Tularosa NM. Sculpture built by Bar M Construction contains 5 yards of concrete and is covered by about 35 gallons of paint. Anchored by thick concrete 4-ft in diameter and 9 ft down.
Plaque at base honors the founder of Tree Farm, the late Tom MCGinn, who loved visiting roadside attractions or Americana, as he called it. There's a gift shop. [Irma Roth, 05/24/2009]
