Field of Dreams
OK, gang, the Field of Dreams is still there, but in May there was no corn, so we had to use our imaginations. There is indeed another baseball field built behind it, but when corn is growing tall it would not be a distraction. There seems to be a new souvenir shop built to look like a feed barn. And another one next to it, slightly up the hill across from the house, is being prepared to be used as a rental for weddings and social events.
We had brats, chips, and a drink for a fair price as we gazed out onto the outfield from the third base line. As to being free, it's not really. Signs at gate asked for a $20 donation and we did not have the guts to ask what happened to free. It was the main reason we did not tour the house for an additional fee. Oh well, every dream has a price and the grass was thick and magnificent and the playing field immaculate.

The house at the location where Field of Dreams was filmed is now open to tour. They did a great job replicating the interior of the movie house. There is a fee to see the inside of the house but it is totally worth it.
[Carl, 04/05/2017]Until now, visiting the Field of Dreams baseball diamond in Iowa -- bucolic site of the 1989 Kevin Costner flick -- sometimes left visitors with the afterglow of a lumpy pillow. That's because the Field had been built on a property line between two neighbors....
