Central, Utah: Mountain Meadows Massacre Mass Grave
Rebuilt in 1999, now three different memorials mark the spot where Mormons pretending to be Indians attacked and murdered 120 westbound pioneers on Sept. 11, 1857, beating most of them to death with rocks or gun stocks.

- Directions:
- I-15 exit 6, then drive 31.5 miles north on Hwy 18 -- or drive 19.5 miles south on Hwy 18 from its junction with Hwy 56. Turn off of Hwy 18 at the Mountain Meadows Monument sign and drive a mile west. Just before you go up a small rise into the parking lot, there's a road on the left. If you take it, you'll go to the mass grave monument in the valley.

[Tammy, 05/21/2013]The 1857 series of attacks on a wagon train of families from Arkansas was conducted by the Nauvoo Legion, local Mormons who disguised themselves as Indians. The story was long suppressed.
