Peaceful now. But in 1857 it was the place where Mormons pretending to be Indians attacked and murdered westbound pioneers, which is why there is a monument.

Quick off the beaten path stop. Would like to have seen more history information at the site.

The 1857 series of attacks on a wagon train of families from Arkansas was conducted by the Nauvoo Legion, local Mormons who disguised themselves as Indians. The story was long suppressed.
