Confederate missile.

Confederate Nuclear Missile

This missile stands in a parking lot right next to the road.

[Carolyn Earle, 02/26/2015]

The Confederate States of America ceased to exist in 1865, but that didn't stop "Confederate Air Force Pad No. 1" from receiving this missile in 1969. Yankees, beware!

Confederate Nuclear Missile

It was an explosive situation and it's a good thing the Confederates never got to launch the little known "bubba rocket" or we'd all be saying y'all!

Titan I Missile sign.

Confederate Nuclear Missile

The missile is right off the highway, just behind a gas station. Easy to get to and only takes a few minutes to see. Worth a quick stop if you like history.

Confederate Air Force Titan I Missile.

Confederate Nuclear Missile

This was an easy stop-off from I-75 but left us with a little more confusion than we came with -- the sign skirts around the actual purpose of the missile, as well as the reason for its creation. An interesting find nonetheless!
