Goff Towers of Woodland Hills

I lived in Woodland Hills from 1979 to 1993 and I always understood it was just a piece of modern art to attract attention when the housing addition first opened up. They used to place large modern art in front of office buildings back in the 1960s and '70s. I don't know if they still do.

Woodlands Neighborhood Poles

What looks somewhat like three tall flag poles, but are clearly not flag poles, mark the entrance to the Woodland Hills neighborhood. People who've live here for years couldn't tell me what the poles were supposed to be. There are zig-zag patterns of welded metal and long guy wires attached to the poles. It looks like someone tried to build an antennae array back in the 1960s or something.

The towers, each 99 feet tall, were built in 1963 by Bruce Goff, a pioneer of "free architecture."
