Langdon, North Dakota: LIM-49A Spartan Missile
5 megaton nuclear-tipped Spartan was designed to bullet up and intercept an enemy ballistic missile before it entered Earth's atmosphere and threatened US ICBM missile bases. Briefly operational in the 1970s, defanged 55-ft. tall mockup installed in 1975.
