It's an egg-shaped water tower. Bill and Fran's diner right down the street is what really is worth the stop.

This egg water tower is a powerful symbol of fertility. If science can be trusted, my son was conceived on a trip to a religious convention where the Saturday evening banquet was held in a fellowship hall just below the egg. My wife and I were ready to have children and if the math can be trusted, our son was born exactly nine months after the visit on the day we were eating fried chicken and green beans under the big egg. We always visit the egg when we drive by. The act was private, but there is always a delay afterwards before the critical things happen internally. We always smile when we pass the big egg.

Looks like a giant egg sitting on a light blue golf tee. On the egg is written, "Newberry County, Milk and Egg Capital."
