Cell Block 7

This decommissioned cell block on the grounds of the still-active State Prison of Southern Michigan has since been turned into a museum. Delve into the heart of this authentic cell block and feel truly immersed with life behind bars. Youll even learn about the exciting escape attempts of past prisoners, including a daring helicopter heist. Visitors will enjoy seeing a penitentiary center without the bindings of an actual court sentence.

Cell Block 7

Only prison museum on the grounds of a functioning prison. You can actually see prisoners across the yard! Great displays telling the history of the prison system in Michigan. No cell phones, cameras, or recording equipment allowed. Children are allowed, but not on the higher galleries. Hearing the prison cell doors slam is quite eerie!

Don't bring any cameras, cell phones, or weapons, including knives. Remember, this is still a working prison...
