Loda, Illinois: Jail in Town Park
The "Loda Calaboose" was purchased in 1914, an outdoor cage-like jail that could hold four lawbreakers in discomfort. Now displayed in a town park.

- North edge of town. From US Hwy 45 turn east onto Jefferson St. Drive one block. Turn right onto Locust St. Drive a half-block. You'll see the jail on the right, in the park behind the Carnegie Library and post office, and next to the restrooms.

Jail in Town Park
Interesting history -- not much to look at though. Would have been more fun if you could go in the jail. It's beside a very cute park for the kiddos. Overall, glad we stopped.

This cage-like structure sits in the village park and was once used as the jail for local disturbers of the peace. There are two cells, each with two flip-down bunks. Locals say it is no longer used as a jail.
