Wild Bighorn Sheep Herd

Be careful for sure not to get too close to them. Best early morning or evening to see tons of wild big horns. They are fun to watch.

Stopped by on 12 Sep 2016 around 9 am and sure enough they were here, and no one was around. Awesome stop, who would have thought!

Wild Bighorn Sheep in Public Park

The sheep can usually be found on summer afternoons. The park is tiny, and parking tight, especially if the sheep are there. Well worth a stop, but do not feed them or get too close.

Wild Bighorn Sheep

Wild Bighorn Sheep Roam Public Park

Hemenway Park is host to a nearly-residential wild herd of desert bighorn sheep. They often come down from the hills to graze on the manicured lawns of this city park. The herd varies in size, but has been seen at over 60 animals, and at times may include lambs and huge-horned rams. They are so common, residents refer to Hemenway as "Sheep Park." Even if the sheep aren't there, you will be treated to beautiful views of Lake Mead, as well as a nice picnic area and playground to stretch your legs.

Please treat the sheep as wild animals, as they are -- and they can be unpredictable. Also, you may want to bring a blanket if you want to lay on the grass; sheep poop is prevalent!
