World's Largest Gavel
Now certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest gavel because it is made of wood, the same material as its actual normal-sized counterpart. Those are the rules!
Abraham Lincoln defended a case here in the summer of 1850. The plaque has a quote from Lincoln and says the gavel is dedicated to the judges of Clark County. Interesting because as far as we know, Abraham Lincoln was never a judge.
The day we visited the gavel's base and top edge were incredibly dirty. Just screaming out for a dust cloth and the world's largest can of Lemon Pledge!

Keep an eye out for fiberglass lions here and there around town; they're decorated to represent area sports teams and businesses. There's one on the courthouse lawn.
