Memphis, Missouri - Missouri's Giantess

Hwy 136, NE of Kirksville, MO is the home built for Ella Ewing, Missouri's Giantess, who was 8-ft. 4 inches tall. The doorknobs are over a foot taller than a standard doorknob. [Maria Evans, 11/13/1999]

[RA: The house, which was custom-built for "Miss Ella," burned to the ground in 1967. But the town museum displays an eight-foot-eight-inch door from the house, one of Ella's size 24 shoes, her nine-foot-long bed, and a life-size photo.]
