Purcellville, Virginia - "Crux Gloria" Cross - Night Outline of Jesus Large 37-ft. steel cross with the image of Jesus cut out. It is illuminated at night so one driving by sees just the body of Jesus. The cross fades away. Pretty incredible. When it was erected and dedicated on the grounds of St. Francis de Sales Church, many of the area newspapers covered the event. It was designed and built by Tomas Fernandez, a local artist. A gift shop in town (The Salvation Shoppe) has small ones for sale, including ones on a chain to wear around your neck. [Fr.Martin, 08/07/2003]
