The Great Fish

The Atlanta Fish Market is a popular seafood restaurant in the Buckhead section of Atlanta, easily found by hungry travelers, since it lies under the shadow of a giant leaping fish.
The Great Fish is 65 feet long from tail to snout (?), bronze in appearance, leaping from a tiny fountain next to the Fish Market. It was created in 1995, the 18" model rendered by Martin Dawe and the full-size version fashioned over six months by Randy Blain (with help from his son, Jason Blain).
The Great Fish is impressive, but buildings in the area diminish the sky-poking power other fish statues enjoy. It's hard to photograph at times, and any good scale view from across the street is crisscrossed with telephone lines.
There are a number of other interesting statues in the neighborhood. A few hundred yards west on either side of Pharr Road are twin metal Atlas statues. Over in Buckhead Triangle Park is a strange sculptural assemblage: a naked bronze man with an antlered buck head, sitting on a log entertaining small forest creatures.
