Mr. Paul Bunyan is still dressed like a lumberjack. He looks cold out there, but he's standing his post.
[cydav, 03/03/2015]The Paul Bunyan statue outside of the Timbers Lounge dates from the mid-1960s, when it was created to advertise Kirby Wood Lumber Co. and fabricated by a local business called Art Forms, owned by Richard Kishel. An old post card shows the Bunyan originally standing at the corner of Liberty Street and Hoyt Avenue.

The [Bunyan] outside of Timbers bar is usually dressed up as a giant Santa Claus around Christmas time. They put a red and white suit on him, plus a hat. In his right hand he holds a Christmas tree and the axe in his left hand is hidden by a large sack of toys. I lived in Muncie for two years, and they did it the Christmas of 1996 and 1997.
