- Hot Springs, Arkansas - Muffler Man Moved to Connecticut
[We checked in with Owen Johnson on the fate of the Bridger/Billings M-Man:] The Paul Bunyan Muffler Man that I had last in Billings was sold and moved to Connecticut. The gentleman that I sold it to owns The House of Doors and is opening another store and wanted it because he has one at his other location in Conn. It was moved in the fall of 2008.
I still have the complete A&W burger family but no more muffler men.

There are now four Muffler Men here: a Paul Bunyan, a Mobile Man, a Texaco Big Friend, and Tow Man. Plus there are a lot of vintage cars and vintage oil and gas signs and a whole McDonald's playground from the early 1970s.

One of two mighty lumberjacks at NSU, this Bunyan may be the world's first Muffler Man. He stands on the grounds outside the Skydome arena, and was briefly seen in the 1960s film "Easy Rider."

This is more of an interesting historical update. My mom recently passed away, and while going through some old family photo albums I found this photo from July 23, 1967, showing a "Paul Bunyan" MM on Flagstaff's main street (Hwy 66) in the parking lot of the Lumberjack Cafe. I have no idea if this is, in fact, the same MM that now lives on the campus of Northern Arizona University, but I think it stands to reason that it is since there are no other MM's in Flagstaff today.

He looks like Paul Bunyan and has an axe in his hands.

If you look down the sidewalk, on the far side of the Lumberjack Cafe, you'll see the top half of another Bunyan Muffler Man! Seems logical to assume both these giants cut a swath to the stadium where Flagstaff's two Bunyans stand today.
