Supersonic Jet sculpture.

Large Supersonic Jet Sculpture

Field review by the editors.

Flushing Meadows - Queens, New York

Polish-born Theodore Roszak, who lived on nearby Staten Island, sculpted this thing and named it "Forms in Transit." His intention was to represent the exhilaration of powered flight without depicting a specific aircraft, although the one that he did depict looks pretty cool.

The sculpture is 43 feet long and at one time was surrounded by the Fountain of Progress. Its aluminum and steel and has been allowed to weather, which gives it the appearance of having survived a reentry from space.
