Mayday Golf.

Mayday Golf

Field review by the editors.

North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

A mini-golf attraction based on the premise of imminent disaster. The eye-grabber from the highway is a bright yellow 1945 US Navy twin-engine Lockheed, positioned as if it's about to crash into the course (the Mayday Golf logo features the same trademarked Big Yellow Plane with bent propellers).

Further in, also in the air, a rescue orange Bell UH-1 Huey helicopter hovers, awaiting any survivors. Dense vegetation and the familiar mini-golf fake rocks give the course a jungle-like feel and shield golfers from the prying eyes of passing motorists looking at the plane.

We were told that Mayday Golf was built by the same man who invented Combos -- the official cheese-filled snack of NASCAR.
