US Airways Flight 1549.

Miracle on the Hudson Jet (Closed)

Field review by the editors.

Charlotte, North Carolina

See the formerly waterlogged Flight 1549, and relive the miraculous moments when Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger safely landed it in the Hudson River after flying into a flock of Canada Geese. The geese died, but all 160 people on the plane lived. It was the feel-good story of 2009 (except for the geese). Since Charlotte was the plane's destination, Charlotte got to keep the plane and put it on display in its airport museum in 2012. Then the airport was bought by a corporation, the museum was closed, and the plane was wheeled into a storage hanger. Charlotte insists that Flight 1549 will eventually be displayed elsewhere in town, but admits it probably won't happen until 2022.
