The Tinker: Tin Man Thinker

Sculptor Lorann Jacobs wanted to created a bronze piece of art to represent York's industrial history. She liked the pitted surfaces of Auguste Rodin's metal sculptures, so in 2012 she created The Tinker, which is the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz posed pensively sitting like Rodin's "Thinker."

To get across the industrial message, The Tinker sits not on a rock, but on a big steel factory wheel and toothed gear.
