Visitor Tips and News About Barrel-Shaped Ice Cream Stand
I read that Barrel of Fun Ice Cream is closed. I called and the number's been disconnected. Not sure what that means, but putting two-and-two-together, I think I'll be getting ice cream elsewhere. Bummer.[Lucy Pfeffa, 05/30/2012]
Bad time for it to close; prime ice-cream-consumption season is just now arriving. At least the barrel is still there....
This ice cream shop has been around in Louisville since the early 1990's at least. I've been going to it for about 10 years now. Not sure how old the giant barrel they use is but it could date back to 1930's or '50's. They offer hard and soft serve ice cream, as well as banana splits, shakes, third pound KY black angus hamburgers, barbeque and hot dogs/chili dogs.[Sean Meredith, 08/20/2010]
Ice cream shop shaped like a barrel. Shop is painted red and white - you can't miss it. Seasonal hours.[Katie, 05/06/2005]
