[Big Ryan, 10/14/2011]Seattle's mile-long monorail, a legacy of it's "Man in the Space Age" 1962 World's Fair, is out of service at least until the end of 2005. Its two trains sideswiped each other on November 26, sending glass and at least one door flying to the street below....

Aside from the being the fastest full-sized monorail in the US (50 mph), the Seattle Center Monorail is privately owned and turns a profit, a feat almost unheard of in the government subsidized circle of America's public transit systems. The track is about a mile in length.
