Aurora, Texas - Alien Pilot Grave - World's Talking Bird

I went there looking for the Alien grave site, but it was nowhere to be found. No Patrick Swayze, either. I did find "Loreta the World's Talking Bird." If you like old cemeteries, this one does not disappoint. A lot of very old graves, some dating back to the 1850s. It was well worth the country drive. [Cheryl DeHaes, 07/16/2006]

Tonight we went to see where the Pilot of the UFO wreck was buried. The historical marker was still there telling the story. We looked around and couldn't find a grave. There was however, a gravestone with Patrick Swayze's picture on it ( located in the south-west corner of the cemetery). After some inspection we decided to ask some of the resident's what they knew about it. The kid in the house across the street said he was a hoax -- that "some kids were messing around burying stuff." We also asked an old lady what she knew about it. She said that it was a hoax as well. She informed us that at one point there was an unusual rock that identified where the Alien was buried, but it had been stolen. [Jordan Sheen, 09/19/2004]

Head for Aurora,Texas, "the town that almost was" as their tiny town history book states, to take a look at the burial site of an alien pilot that crashed its UFO there in 1897. The town is just off US 287 west of Rhome heading toward Bridgeport on 114. Look for the sign saying CEMETERY pointing south. There is a historical marker that includes the word "spaceship" at the site and keep an eye out for the tombstone of Loreta: The World's Talking Bird. This is a true Wise county gem.
