Start your space tour here. The most distant planet in Maine's scale model of the solar system is Pluto, some 40 miles from the Sun, north on Rt. 1 in Presque Isle. Pluto is represented by a small wooden ball mounted on the wall in the Houlton Information Center. Tiny Charon is mounted right next to it.

September 2006: As of late August 2006, Pluto is no longer designated a planet -- now it's a "dwarf planet." However, there is no plan to remove it from the Solar System Model.
