Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - Miss America statues Just down the road from the former Townley's (now Brauma's) milk bottle and the Gold Dome is Oklahoma City University. And welcoming students and visitors to the campus, there they are: your ideal, the dreams of a million girls -- a trio of statues dedicated to the school's three Miss America winners, Jane Jayroe, Susan Powell and Shawntel Smith.
The statues sit in a fountain which was empty this day and the plaza includes what appears to be a school walk of fame, though I only saw one star (honoring opera singer Leona Mitchell) that wasn't blank. [Rhonda Reddick, 07/23/2007]
