Tyler, Texas - Oil Derrick Rest Stop Picnic Tables This small and quaint rest area with unique looking picnic tables is located just northeast of Tyler, TX on Interstate 20. The picnic shelters are made to look like classic oil derricks, which, at one time, was a pretty common site around Texas. I've passed this place numerous times in the past 37 years going back and forth from Shreveport, La to Dallas and never stopped here... until now, and they appear to have held up pretty well.
