The Bubble Room restaurant, which was described recently as a neat kitschy place (which it was) closed in August 1998. All of the thousands of items inside were auctioned off. I do not know if the one on Captiva Island, Florida also bit the dust.
[Bob Cara, 10/26/1998]after becoming bored with Disney World (after all, where were the beer drinking chimps or alligator wrestlers?), I took my family to The Bubble Room-- a great kitschy 1940s theme restaurant. In addition to having every inch of the place covered with photos, Christmas decorations, animated Santas and windowbox tables filled with cool memorabilia, they have a great bar featuring a gigantic fiberglass sow with gigantic prop booze bottles suitable for photos of the kiddies. Tacky, terrific fun. They also have a Bubble Room restaurant on Captiva Island in Florida.
