Sioux City, Iowa - First Corn Palace - History

Sioux City did indeed have the first Corn Palaces. They were constructed only to stand for a few weeks before being razed. All five of the Corn Palaces put Mitchell's to shame. The first one was built in 1887 the last in 1891. Due to flood and depression, no Corn Palace was built in 1892. That was the year Mitchell constructed their first. [Thomas Munson, 10/04/2001]
