The flea market's official greeter has been accessorized with a leg gold watch and tail diamond ring, an "I (heart) Fleas" cowbell, a lady's hat, and dangling earrings. Her eyes bulge as she searches for bargains.

Big Cow - Vague Recollections

This cow was in front of Mammy's Kitchen on Ogeechee Rd. (US Hwy. 17-S) for years. Before that it belonged to Robards Diary. Robards (Roberds?) was a local dairy in Savannah for decades. They went of of business around 1982/83. They were one of the last dairies that I know of to use glass milk bottles.

The dairy had machines around town that vended 1/2 gallon cartons of milk. The cow was on a low trailer used to transport her to vending locations, parked for days or weeks.

Around 1973 (in 4th or 5th Grade) my little brother and I rode our bikes to elementary school one weekend, and on our way home we stopped to look at the big cow parked next to one of the vending machines. There was a trap door on the bottom of the cow and we climbed inside.

It smelled pretty bad. We were lucky we got out okay after spending a few minutes in it. We could have been overcome by the heat, fumes and lack of air. Then again, that was the fun about being a kid.

The Giant Cow from Keller's Flea Market in Savannah, GA was wearing her straw hat, and various jewelry including: earrings, a diamond ring on her tail, and her "I love fleas!" bell around her neck.

When on Ogeechee Road, pass the cow and the car dealership. There is a new entrance on the left that will lead to a public parking area. When you exit, the cow will be at the front of the exit.

She has her straw hat on as well as her Easter Bunny nose and whiskers. Her bell says "I Heart Fleas" and she is wearing a wrist watch on one leg and has a diamond ring on her tail.
