- Rabbit Island is in the channel connecting Upper St Regis and Spitfire Lakes. It is a private island, but the memorial plaque may be easily viewed from the water. There is a public boat launch at Paul Smiths College at the junction of Hwys 86 and 30. From there make your way across the water to the south end of Lower St. Regis Lake, through the channel, then to the south end of Spitfire Lake, where you'll see tiny Rabbit Island. Private property - viewable from boat.

On Rabbit Island, at the southern entrance to Spitfire Lake, there's a plaque bolted to a rock: the Tuberculin Rabbit Shrine. Its story is in the Quarantine Section of the Roadside America Pet Cemetery.

Please note, the Tuberculin Rabbit Shrine can only be accessed by boat. The island is privately owned, but the plaque can be seen from the water. The Heron Road address your page listed is a private road not open to the public. All houses on the road are also private, and there is no water access from this location.
