Big ear. Raleigh, North Carolina - Walk-Through Brain and Anatomy Playground

There is also an interesting playground out front of the museum with giant ears, a tongue slide, and other neat equipment. [d, 07/31/2008]

Cleaning up at the Walk-in Brain. Raleigh, North Carolina - Poe Center - Walk-In Brain

The Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education was closed when I got there, but I took this photo through the front door. Will try to visit again. I assume this is the "walk-in brain." [Ric Carter, 03/20/2005]

Raleigh, North Carolina - Transparent Anatomical Mannequin and Big Brain

The Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education has a genuine Transparent Anatomical Mannequin, but taking pictures of her is strictly forbidden. Negotiations requesting special permission for a picture of the TAM proved fruitless. What I can tell you is the TAM stands in the classic "Nirvana CD cover" pose, and she talks.

But the TAM is not the "big news" for the center. Coming in Sept. 2001 the center will have a "state-of-the-art, hands-on, walk-in brain exhibit". Currently, the only other walk-in brain that I know of is at the Weller Center for Health Education in Easton, PA. [Greg Brown, 06/20/2001]
