Giant Paint Can It's still there and very big! Right on the side of the road on the way to Tiny Word. If you miss it you shouldn't be driving! [Cris Swanlund, 10/14/2008]
Giant Paint Can That's so much paint! [Maeve Sullivan, 01/21/2008]
Giant Paint Can The big paint can was a way to transform the storage tank of the previous owner into an ad for the paint store that is now located there. The [porno] picketers [on the other side of the highway] are no longer there, but the gentlemen's club and adult book store are still an embarrassment to the locals. Giant paint can Off Interstate 81 southbound lanes at old exit 9, there's a big refinery-style
tank painted to look like a can of latex housepaint to advertise a company there that produces
paint, apparently. [Jay Votel, 08/11/2001][RA: It's a storage tank on west side of I-81 converted into Moor-Glo can, with label, lid and handle. At the Benjamin Moore Plant. Impossible to get a picture, so be prepared with a telephoto out the car window.
From a hypertour in 1996, we have this interesting note: "At the 696 exit across from the can, there was a hand-painted sign: 'PORNO PROTEST THIS EXIT.' On the east side of I-81 is a new strip joint. While protestors picketed in day-glo orange vests out front, tattooed beauties sunbathed out back, facing the can. There's nowhere to park without being arrested or set upon by the protestors!"]
