Author Ernest Miller Hemingway (1899-1961) was known for his adventurous life, his popular books and short stories, and his suicide with a shotgun. Ketchum is where he pulled the trigger. Fans leave liquor bottles, coins, and other offerings on his grave slab.

Ernest Hemingway's Grave
Hemingway's grave is located under a group of pine trees. It is decorated with alcohol bottles, coins and notes written to Hemingway.

There is no actual address for the memorial. The easiest way to find it is to locate the Sun Valley Gun Club on your GPS and drive toward the Club. The memorial is on the right, just before the Club. You can't miss the "Ernest Hemingway Memorial" sign and improved parking lot. The memorial is in the trees, literally a stone's throw from the parking lot. The simplicity of the monument, in concert with the elements of nature, is stunning.
[Ralph, 05/07/2018]Seriously, it's pretty neat. While we were there, three other families came by to pay their respects. People leave things to honor him. We thought it was wild there was an unopened bottle of wine! From an earlier storm, we did take some time to upright things that had fallen.
