Big Charles, Famous Log

Big Charles is a 15,000-pound cypress log, probably thousands of years old. It was found submerged 12 miles up the Apalachicola River in September 2014. It was well-protected under 30 feet of mud and was only recovered by Justin Golden and Jeremy Nowling on May 22, 2015 after river dredging occurred. The Tiffin family purchased the log on May 26, 2015 in order to keep it in Franklin County, Florida, so it would remain a permanent part of its history.
