Indian Statue

A new Indian statue has been erected in downtown Menasha. This Indian is quite a sight, even though technically this type of Indian is not native to Wisconsin. Still, impressive. It was a gift to the city from a local car dealer-philanthropist. Just down main street is the structure "Ark II." Not sure where "Ark I" is, but II is fun.

[Barb Unruh, 09/23/2017]

The full-color bronze statue, "He Who Walks with Thunder," stands 12 feet tall and weighs nearly a ton. It stands on private property, so its wealthy backer could make a statue of whatever he wanted. He wanted a big Indian, and the sculptor, David Spellerberg, wanted to make a Plains Indian. So it's a big Plains Indian.
