Spook Rock

Spook Rock is a boulder that can be seen in Claverack Creek. Supposedly an Indian princess ran off with her lover and they rested on Spook Rock. The local deity, angered at the pair's rebelliousness, caused a flood that washed the two away.

There is an unpaved pull-off parking area on the creek side of the road, where visitors can access the creek for wading, fishing, and hoping to hear or see American Indian spirits.

Spook Rock's historical marker claims that the lovers are buried beneath it, and when church bells ring the rock flips over and they appear!
