Hall of Flame

Yes, the name is goofy -- but this museum's firefighting equipment collection is very serious.

Hall of Flame, 2007.

Hall of Flame

The Hall of Flame exhibits lots of fire trucks, from man-drawn, horse-drawn, to one from 9/11. Show some interest and ask some questions of the volunteers and they open up and share stories. We spent a couple of hours, but could have been here longer. Bring your Kleenex for the room of heroes. Special room, and reminds you of the sacrifice firefighters make.

Hall of Flame

If you've got any interest in firefighting, stop by the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting. I've never seen more fire engines in one place in all my life. They claim to have 130 of them, from the horse-drawn era up through the present time. Lots of otherfirefighting exhibits as well. The whole thing got started in 1955 when George Getz's wife Olive gave him a 1924 fire engine as a Christmas present. By 1961, George had collected enough stuff to open the Hall of Flame, first in Wisconsin. By 1974 the continually-growing collection was moved to Phoenix.
