Wigwam Village In 2006, when my bf was moving from FL to Chicago, we stopped at Wigwam Village #2 for the night on our little adventure. [Cindy Tomczyk, 04/21/2011]
Wigwam Village #2 The outside of our room was in a desperate need of a white washing, maybe a new paint job, but the inside was spotless. Each room is small, but could easily fit 2 people, maybe a 3rd (all rooms have a pull-out bed). The owner was very nice -- he called me the day before to confirm my reservations, and when I told him that my boyfriend and I were on a road trip, he gave me several trip suggestions, and even called the next day to check on us. Upon arrival, he even gave me several free postcards. It was truly a lovely stop on our trip. [Danielle, 09/09/2010]
Wigwam Village Motel #2 My family and I spent the night in the bliss of a concrete wigwam at the aptly named Wigwam Village. While the place is certainly a novelty worthy of preservation, it doesn't make for the best night's sleep. The "rooms" were cramped at best and a neighboring train track provided "background noise" throughout the night in the form of locomotive whistles and rumblings. Our particular wigwam could have done with a good airing out. The wigwams are circled around a playground/picnic area and lots of family bonding time was had by jovial children, parents and grandparents who had ventured out from neighboring units at sunset.
A stop by the "Big Wigwam" is a must, as it features an Indian-themed gift shop in the basement. At the time in 2008, a friendly gentleman of foreign descent ran the place and offered a complimentary postcard with each stay. [Faye Travis, 02/14/2009]
