The Face in the Rock.

The Face in the Rock

A rock carving made in 1820 by a French trapper and guide. The face is that of a young Ojibwa hero named Powers of the Air, or Ogichidaa, who followed his fallen father as the leader of the Grand Island band of his people. There is a historical marker at the scenic roadside rest area, with the history and a map to the face. It's about six feet up on the side of the rocks and very weathered.
