The Big John statue is no longer in this parking lot, although the yellow pedestal can still be seen. Big John's closed sometime in 2005, and sometime after that the statue was taken away.

Big John is a grocery store in West City Illinois. Outside in the parking lot is a huge statue of a grocer carrying bags of groceries.
[Pam, 11/23/2003]No truth to the rumor that Big John no longer stands watch over Midwestern supermarket lots. I saw him just last Thursday, looming over a store in Benton [actually neighboring West City], IL; sacks clutched tightly. He's not illuminated at night, though. Have these people no pride?!
