- Atlanta, Georgia - Strange Graves of Oakland Cemetery
According to the primary tip, Smith's fortune came from bricks made by hundreds of mostly enslaved black convicts... after the Civil War. At best this is misleading, given that slavery was outlawed by the 13th Amendment just after the Civil War ended.

This place is great! My 9-year-old twin boys sat there silently all meal listening on headsets, trying to hear the air traffic controllers talk, and watching the planes (even at night you can see a lot). Anyone who has an interest in aviation and/or WWII will love the 57th Fighter Group restaurant.

The menu is very shi-shi and expensive, so we went just for dessert and had a wonderful time. The blue dome cakes are perfect for the blue-dome location. I even got a pic of the blue dome reflected in a neighboring building. Were here in the winter, so we can only see the nighttime view of the city -- would love to see it during daylight but it doesn't open until 5 pm. The elevator ride to the top will take your breath away (especially if you're scared of heights like I am).

Blacks continued to be enslaved in the South even after the passage of the 13th Amendment, as a result of the convict labor system used by companies such as Smith's. African-Americans would be arrested on trumped-up charges, then forced into exhausting and dangerous labor that sometimes had no end date.
