- I-77 exit 5 (Bluff Rd) north. At the first traffic light turn left on S. Beltline Rd. Follow this 1.5 miles until you see a sign for the Metro Wastewater Plant and turn left. This is Simon Tree Lane but there is no street sign on the corner. This street will take you as close as possible to the tank, which you'll see ahead on the right.
We had no idea Columbia had swamps! Until we drove around one for this picture.

The City of Columbia's Wastewater Treatment facility has a bulb-shaped blue water tower that has a Smiley Face painted with white paint that stares out at the cars passing on the I-77 bypass.

Only tiny children can slide down Eddie's tunnels, and unfortunately the museum has disabled his flatulence. We did get a peek at South Carolina's biggest seat belt, as well as a nifty display of what happens when airbags deploy in a car.
