- Boston, Massachusetts - Warren Anatomical Museum
The Warren Anatomical Museum is a small, free medical museum in the Longwood Ave. medical district in Boston. There are some great portraits, including a doctor with a trephaning tool and a skull with a hole in it. The most famous artifact is the skull of Phineas Gage, that guy who had a tamping iron shot straight through his skull while working on the railroad and lived, only to become a very different person. It is in the Countway Library of Medicine, located in Harvard Medical School's Longwood Campus, open Mon-Fri 9-5. It's on the top floor of the library.
[Liz Coffey, 11/27/2003] We have been here so many times that we got a membership. Aside from the World's Largest Van De Graff Generator, the museum has much more to see, and they are always changing things. They have great movies -- also on the largest screen -- it looks like you are in the movie.
There is a large parking garage.

- Boston, Massachusetts - World's Largest Van De Graff Generator
The world's largest van De Graff Generator is housed at the Museum of Science in Boston. They put on an awesome electricity theater production talking about lightning and such. The lightning comes from the generator and comes over the audience. Bring ear plugs because it does get loud.
[Anita Smallin, 01/01/2006] - Boston, Massachusetts - Ether Monument
A monument to the discovery of ether for medical anesthesia, while avoiding the contentious issue of who actually did the discovering -- which was a hot topic when the monument went up in 1868.
