Everglades Alligator Farm
Homestead, Florida
This working farm has over 2,000 gators, which it claims is twice as many as at better-known attractions such as Gatorland and St. Augustine Alligator Farm. As you walk the nature path around the breeder ponds, you'll have many opportunities to photograph gators of all sizes. Only later will you realize that while you were out there, in the steamy sawgrass, you were outnumbered by roughly a thousand to one.
The gator wrestling and feeding shows at this out-of-the-way attraction provide a nice counterpoint to its sleepy natural vibe. It's memorable to see dozens of gators surface out of a formerly empty-looking pond, then charge the beach for hunks of raw meat.
Florida sunbathers would not last long at Everglades Alligator Farm.
